Discussion
For this UCU teach-out session, we will be taking a look at a specific part of New York’s, and America’s, protest movement care of the Guerrilla Girls. An anonymous faction who use artist soubriquets and gorilla masks to hide their identities, the Guerrilla Girls formed in 1985 to fight for gender and racial equality in the arts.
With their motto – ‘Reinventing the F word: Feminism!” – in mind, take a look at this short piece of writing by two of the Guerrilla Girls and think about what strikes you, what protest movements it reminds you of, and anything else you might want to discuss!
