Discussion

For this session, we’re simply interested in having a good old-fashioned chat about the comfort we take from various media, especially during anxious and uncertain times. 2020 has provided plenty for us to worry about, and so the solace and escapism granted us by a book, a favourite TV show, or album has been markedly more powerful as a result.

As a chance to meet fellow Americanists and simply say hello, all we ask is that you come along with a piece(s) of media in mind that has helped you during lockdown. We’re a friendly, laid back, and inclusive research group so don’t worry if you think your suggestion isn’t ‘high-brow’. If anything, that means it will probably be all the better for discussing and sharing!

Anything that means something to you will mean something to us, so bring it along and share the love with others!
