Where and When?

Wednesday 5th May @ 3pm – Zoom link

Discussion

For this session, we’ll be following the lead of our very own Tom Kaye and his work on American wilderness, forests, rewilding, and much more. The readings here, including an interview with eco-conscious writer Richard Powers, allude to the vastness of America’s geography and its importance in the shaping of the nation’s cultural imaginary.

From discussions of climate change and disasters, to the significance of back-to-nature living, how and why does America’s varied biomes and topographical immensity shape how we study and perceive it?

Readings

There’s quite a lot of reading here, so feel free to pick and choose / scan what takes your fancy! We’ll try to use as much as we can to prompt discussions, but as always all ideas are welcome.
